Why Holmes Is Back

I have had more letters about Mr. Sherlock Holmes than about everything else I have written put together, and a good many of them were cross.

The new story is set on Dartmoor, a country of granite and bog and old legend that a friend described to me so vividly that I had to see it for myself. The moment I stood on it I knew it needed a detective.

It is an adventure from before his supposed end, so nobody need accuse me of changing my mind. Not yet, at any rate.
